U.S. VLAT/LAT Fleet & Airport Activity Report (June 2025)
Wildfire NOTD subscriber Lance Sherry, Director of the Center for Air Transportation Systems Research at George Mason University, sent along a report on U.S. air-tankers, which noted that 42 VLATS, LATS, and Scoopers conducted a total of 1590 flights in June (up from 742 in May), with the average flight duration for retardant drops at 52 minutes, putting more than half of these tankers over the wildfire within 30 minutes.

The Foundation is working directly with Coeur d'Alene Fire Department (CdA Fire), Kootenai County Fire and Rescue (KCFR), the injured firefighter, and the families of those we tragically lost. It has established several dedicated donation funds to provide comprehensive support: Fallen CdA Fire Battalion Chief Morrison Family Donations; Fallen KCFR Battalion Chief Harwood Family Donations; Injured CdA Firefighter Tysdal Donations; and the Canfield Incident Fund – This fund will be distributed equally among all three families."
