Forty years after the Bonita Fire scorched a huge swath of land in the Sequoia National Forest northeast of Kennedy Meadows, a comparison with the current Schaeffer Fire, which has burned nearly 16,000 acres in the same forest near Kernville, shows how things have changed in the world of wildland firefighting.
