Human-ignited fires result in more extreme fire behavior and ecosystem impacts
In a Nature Communications article, researchers demonstrated in a standardized database of wildfire behavior for blazes from 2012–2018 that human-ignited fires contribute to more explosive growth in the first few days following ignition as compared to lightning-sparked wildfires.
