Firefighters battle 79 large wildfires nationwide as 200 new fires are reported

The National Interagency Fire Council reported that 22,122 firefighters and support personnel battled 200 wildfires nationwide over the weekend, including five new large fires, noting that the Northwest had the most fire activity in the nation, with 29 large fires and 11 complex incident management teams assigned.
